Art journaling

My topic for the art journaling project was give. I used this by using a picture of women fighting for bread to give to their families who desperately need it. I also included a picture of farmers because they provide the products to make the food to feed all the hungry people.

Artists develop art making skills
I learned the technique of collage. I have never done a collage type project before so it was something new and At first I thought I didn't like collages. I learned how to place things on a page better and how to design a page layout.

Artists create original work
I used my own unique ideas in this project. At first when you look at it it may seem confused and jumbled, but when you really look at it you begin to understand the meaning. The women getting bread and the farmers show the theme of give.

Sculpture

Artists reflect
I stepped back and analyzed my work throughout the process to make sure what I was doing actually looked like Spongebob.

Artists develop art making skills
I had never used clay before and I haven't done relief art.
I gained more skills with paint.

Art 1 Final Exam

Required Question
I feel that the open art room concept helped me grow as an artist. It allowed me to decide what I wanted to create. I didn't have a lot of guidelines other than the topic or medium. I think this is good because it allows the artist to create what THEY want to create, and not what the teacher wants them to create. The open art room concept allows the students thoughts and emotions to be put into the work. When you get to create what you want in art class, it makes it more enjoyable. If you aren't creating what you want, it won't be as enjoyable.

Choose a place or artwork where the subject matter reflects you as an artist. One that you have a personal connection to. Please explain. I chose the piece that I did in towards the beginning of the semester. It is the man in the suit with the camera as his face. I have a personal connection to it because I take a lot of pictures. I also use Instagram a lot. The man in the picture could be me because I'm always seeing things from the perspective of a camera lense.

Which project was your most successful? Describe the theme and or topic and the process you went through to complete the project. The project I chose was the print making project. The subject I chose was the Instagram logo because it's one of my favorite apps. When I first started the project, I knew I wanted to do the logo, but I didn't want it to be the same colors as the original. I just wanted to the shape you to be recognizable. I chose black and yellow, which I think turned out well. Some of the prints where a little off on the placement but I think that that makes it more cool and layed back, which is what Instagram is.

Sketchbook: The warm up I found most beneficial was drawing the sign language hands. It helped me learn how to draw human features better. Before I made everything cartoon looking. The warm up made me try drawing more realistic.

Land art

Artists Create Original Art
For a warmup we had to find something outside and draw onto it to make it something. So for that I made a stick man out of sticks. In the land art project my group used this same idea and we added onto it to make it even better; we used leaves for hair and clothes.

Artists collaborate

While doing this project, my group contributed different ideas. We debated on what materials to use and how to create the stick figures. Through our combined ideas, we produced the different figures that we have now.

Art history video

The art piece we chose was Stuart's George Washington. It is on display in the Musuem of Fine Arts in Boston and the background was never completed. The categorie of art it falls in is American Neoclassicism. Neoclassicism became the style mostly due to Thomas Jefferson. He built the University of Virginia as a learning lab of Classicism.

If we did this project again, I would change the way that we filmed our part because you couldn't really tell what the painting was.
